Notebooks and laptops from Joule Performance Switzerland
With the huge selection of notebooks and laptops that we have nowadays, it can be difficult to make a choice. The question always remains, which device best meets my requirements for performance and comfort? Our Professional Laptop series offers the right fit for every need. But what should you consider when buying a laptop?
- Choose the appropriate performance (What do I need to be able to do with the device?)
- Consider the optimal size and weight (depending on the place of use)
- Select a display size tailored to the tasks to be performed
- Choose the appropriate storage medium for your intended use.
Stutters, crashes, and long loading times are a thing of the past
If you use your laptop for intensive programs such as the Adobe portfolio, you logically need more power available. For such cases, it is recommended to choose a device with a powerful processor (i5 or higher).
Also, enough RAM should be available to avoid any bottlenecks. Most programs these days rely heavily on memory. Especially browsers and work programs such as Photoshop or Premiere Pro. In this case, it's worth selecting at least 16GB of RAM or ideally even 32GB.
As far as the graphics card / graphics unit is concerned, there is more leeway here. A graphics card is not necessarily required as long as the processor has an integrated graphics unit. This is usually sufficient to support normal work processes and creative work.
For those who require particularly high mobile power, our gaming laptops are available. ARGOS and ARES are perfectly suited for very intensive programs and gaming and enable flexible and reliable performance to be achieved.
Lightweight and silent laptops
When it comes to laptops and notebooks, especially in the business sector, mobility and flexibility are key. The Joule Performance Professional series offers you lightweight and performant devices that run in near-silence.
As Windows laptops have become the daily companion of many people, no one wants to feel like they are carrying a bag of bricks in their backpack. Our motto here is the smaller and lighter, the better.
However, it is important to consider that extra performance can come with a certain weight and noise level. High-end components generate a lot of heat, which requires more cooling and therefore increases the weight factor.
Hard drives, SSDs, or NVMe for your notebook
In addition to selecting the processor and memory for your laptop, choosing the storage medium is also important. You can choose between different options, such as the traditional hard disk drive (HDD), solid-state drives (SSD), or NVMe storage.
A traditional hard disk drive is still an inexpensive option for a laptop, but it does not offer as fast access times as an SSD or NVMe. However, if you need a laptop with a large capacity and have a limited budget, a hard disk drive may be an option.
Solid-state drives offer faster read and write speeds than hard disk drives, which significantly shortens program loading times and system boot-up times. However, they are generally more expensive than hard disk drives.
NVMe storage is even faster than SSDs, but it also offers higher capacities and faster read and write speeds. If you work with large files or need to run programs that require a high load time, NVMe storage is a good choice. However, they are also more expensive than SSDs and hard disk drives.
If you want to store many images and files locally, you need enough space on your storage device. Therefore, it is important to choose the right solution for your needs.
If you want to store many images and files locally, you should choose a device with sufficient storage space. For most normal business users, a storage capacity of 250-500GB is sufficient. If you need more, you can choose a larger hard drive in our configurator. This way, you can find the ideal device for your specific requirements.
How big should the laptop be?
First, ask yourself what you will be using your laptop for. Depending on the application and personal preference, a larger screen may be more beneficial.
As mentioned above with performance, having a larger screen can be helpful for Adobe programs. This allows your eyes to relax and your mind to stay calm.
For simpler applications like writing emails and texts, a smaller screen is sufficient. If you're unsure about which screen size is best for you, take a look at our ranking below:
- General office work and internet surfing: A 13- to 15-inch display is ideal for these tasks. It's large enough to open multiple windows at once and still portable enough to be easily transported.
- Image and video editing: For these tasks, a larger screen is recommended as it allows for the display of more details. A 15- to 17-inch display is a good choice.
- Gaming: For gamers, a large screen with high resolution is beneficial as it improves immersion and the gaming experience. A 17- to 18-inch display is ideal.
- Programming: For programmers, it's important to have enough space on the screen to have multiple windows open at once. A 15- to 17-inch display is a good choice.
- Traveling: If you travel often and use your laptop on the go, you should choose a smaller display to reduce the weight and size of the laptop. A 13-inch display is a good choice.
Of course, the screen size is ultimately a personal preference and depends on your individual needs. You should also consider the resolution of the screen to ensure that it's sharp enough and can display the details you need.
